Personalised Gifts at affordable prices

There is always an occasion to give personalised gifts: births, birthdays, mothers' day, fathers' day, St Valentine's day, anniversaries, remembrances, Christmas or just 'Thank You'. Especially when those gifts start from under £5.

Ceramic keepsakes from Queenie of Hearts are available 'off the shelf' or personalised. There is also a range of greetings cards (so much nicer than the, erm... "lunar-sow" website) and other gift items. All the designs are unique.

However, a new website needs more than to just 'be'. It needs a boost of some kind to be found on the internet amongst competitors - and preferably on page 1 of search results. If you search for Queenie of Hearts personalised gifts, you will find www.queenieofhearts.co.uk at the top of results - but this relies on knowing and remembering the name of the company.

The BPc is working with Queenie of Hearts to improve results for searches where the name is not used, e.g. personalised gifts. This is a mammoth task as there are thousands of businesses, many with much higher budgets and profiles, who will dominate the top spots. We might not succeed for generic searches but we shall endeavour to raise the profile for specific searches.

Unique Offer - not for everyone - Patio Doors

UPDATE 31/7/2017: THIS OFFER HAS CLOSED - DOORS SOLD! Please visit their website for new doors.

Our client: SunSeeker Doors designs, develops, manufacturers and installs contemporary glass doors. For home-owners who love the light, UltraSlim aluminium frames are less than 2cm wide.

£1,500 +vat, fully inclusive of delivery and installation

If you are looking for a set of fully opening patio doors to fit an aperture of 1520mm wide by 2020mm high, UltraSlim could be the perfect solution as an alternative to bi folding or French doors. Usually, the cost of bespoke doors is over £2,000 but this set is available for one lucky home-owner as a one-off. This is due to the original customer changing their plans after the doors were made. The company wishes to recoup the cost of materials and manufacturing.

Existing Client ... Brand New Product Line

SunSeeker Doors has designed and installed reractable glass doors since 2003. Starting with slimline aluminium bi folding patio doors and extending the range to include UltraSlim and Frameless Glass Doors. As an appealing convenience to customers, they also offer horizontal slatted blinds encapsulated within the doors' double glazed units, as an optional extra.

Added to their list of optional extras in a new product line... Roller Shutters!

When ordering SunSeeker Doors (or windows*) you can now include roller shutters, available in a range of colours. They can keep the sun at bay on early sunny summer mornings and can close off the dark night views without the need for curtains. Many people feel safer at night with shutters fitted and feel that the house is more secure, less inviting to intruders, when they are away.

*Note that all Doors can be specified as windows and still include the optional extras of blinds and/or shutters.

Take a look at the Roller-Shutters page of their website for further information.

Kent-based independent Driving Tuition

We have produced websites for two independent driving instructors based near Maidstone in Kent. The latest one is JimGermaneyDrivingTuition.co.uk. Jim supplied the main photograph and we designed the website around it. Here are a few screen shots:
Home page logo, menu and banner image
mobile version
Gallery page featuring successful pupils

The website is built with WordPress, a CMS (Content Management System) which means that with very little training, most businesses will be able to log in and edit the information on their website, add images, write news, etc..

Several years ago, The BPc hand-coded an HTML website for Dawn Driving Tuition. We dedicated a blog post to designing the logo. We hear from Dawn now and then, if tweaks are needed to her website. In fact, it was Dawn who recommended The BPc to Jim Germaney Driving Tuition.

Visit TheBPc.org.uk to see a selection of our clients' websites and let us know if you'd like us to build one for you.

Your car, van, fleet will Keep on Running with WGC mobile mechanic

Matt Freeman is a mobile mechanic based in Welwyn Garden City, serving Hertfordshire and surrounding areas. Recently, his new website was launched, developed by Herts-based Professional Solutions and basic SEO added by The BPc who also wrote a couple of posts to kick-start his blog. This includes an insight into the importance of a regular oil and filter change.

As a mobile mechanic, Matt will come to your car or van to fix the problem - like a personal AA/RAC service. But he provides other auto services too - see his website for a full list.

In particular, Matt Freeman Autos can assist owners and other mechanics with removing diesel injection systems that have become seized, using specific equipment that he has invested in. If any mechanics in Herts and surrounding areas require Diesel Injector Removal at a fraction of the cost of purchasing the equipment required, contact MattFreemanAutos.com.

Waiting for Signoff & Work in Progress

Just because we haven't posted links to our recent work doesn't mean that we haven't been busy... Quite the opposite. We have one completed website design for an Accounting company that has been awaiting sign-off for a few weeks - but you know how busy they are over December/January. We also have website design work-in-progress for an investment company, a financial services supplier, a mobility service and driving school - so watch this space!

As you may know, we collaborate on websites that are being designed by other companies. Currently, we are assisting with user-friendliness and content for a self-help site that is in development.

We often work with webite designer Professional Solutions  who has just completed changes to an established website for an existing client, upgrading from static HTML to WordPress CMS and ensuring that it's responsive for mobile devices and tablets. It now passes the Google 'Mobile Friendly' test and has been passed over to The BPc to work on optimising the content and other aspects of SEO to return it to page 1 of Google search results, where it used to be after we last refined it.

The Power You're Supplying - It's Electrifying!

class II bathroom lights
Bathroom recessed downlighters (C2)
Those annoying laws that get passed for our health and safety are difficult to understand for a lay person so it's in our best interests to call an expert. In this case study, a family home had been extended and the local Hertfordshire council required the relevant certificate from a suitably qualified, certified electrician.

If you can't get a recommendation for a tradesperson from someone you trust, you then have to trust yourselves to choose wisely by careful research. Many people begin with their favoured social media, usually Facebook or Twitter, with Twitter casting a more immediate and wider net to capture suggestions.

If that fails, it's a case of comparing all local search results, checking reviews and sometimes reading between the lines. In our case study, KBR Electrical (Herts.) was contacted; the brief was to ensure that all electrical work was passed in accordance with the rules prevalent at the time the work was done. The older part of the house would have been exempt but the old fuse board had been replaced by a new one, therefore the whole house was subject to testing, not just the extension.

The lighting circuit in the older part of the house was not an earthed installation, requiring some modifications: re-wiring would cause considerable disruption so KBR's owner/electrician put forward alternative compliant suggestions. These included ensuring that the lights on the unearthed circuits were replaced with ones that are specifically manufactured and tested for non-earthed systems, known as class 2 or II.

The clients were delighted with the service in terms of timely response and consideration for both budget and minimising disruption. The local planning department issued the appropriate certificate the following morning.

That's why returning clients say... You're the one that I want! www.KBRElectrical.com

Safety at Work - as easy as ABC

Workplace safety applies to all companies, whatever their size. Employers must ensure that all staff, contractors and volunteers under their care must know how to work safely without risk to themselves or others. The management has to provide clear instructions regarding safe working practices, with information and adequate training as appropriate.

Depending on the work environment, basic information or instructions may be all that is required. The best way to demonstrate that health and safety practices are being taken seriously is to provide training via a specialist who is geared up to cover all aspects on your behalf, e.g. relevance, effectiveness, feedback. Keeping training records will help you to identify when refresher training might be needed.

Our client ABC WorkSafe has a long and successful history of providing high quality training courses at reasonable cost throughout the southern half of the UK. They have launched a 'Business Special' to suit most companies with at least a handful of staff.

Three certificated 'Work Safe' courses, each two hours long, which cover the main topics for First Aid, Manual Handling and Fire Safety - 12 people per session.

ABC WorkSafe will deliver basic Safety at Work courses for your management and staff in just one day.
  • Our Fire Safety Awareness Course is suitable for everyone and essential for those with Fire Warden or Fire Marshall responsibilities:
    • basic fire safety principles for the workplace
    • identify fire hazards and how a fire develops
    •  evacuation procedures
    • use of fire extinguishers.
  • Our Manual Handling Training Course
    • creates awareness of the risks related to the incorrect undertaking or supervising manual handling
    • raises the level of understanding risks and thus helps avoid work-related injuries.
  • Our First Aid Course provides essential basic knowledge, not just for work but everywhere. The training session will include:
    • emergency response skills, e.g. CPR
    • Life-saving skills! The DO and DON'T essentials while waiting for medical professionals.
A full day for all three courses for a maximum of 12 people per session includes course manuals and a certificate per attendee for each course attended.

ABC WorkSafe courses include: First Aid, Fire Safety, Food Safety, Manual Handling, Health and Safety and Care.

A specialist will be able to assist with a review of particular training needs of inexperienced new recruits, young people and those who may be less able plus additional training for health and safety representatives.

Still in doubt? Give them a shout! Build your team of potential life savers!
