QR codes: the latest technology in advertising print

Signcraft, always at the forefront of print technology, produce QR codes for their clients' advertising boards and vehicle graphics.

QR codes are barcodes that are readable with the relevant app on smartphones. If you take a photograph with an appropriate phone, the app will instantly recognise the message, which may be a link to a website, an email address, contact information, a diary event or just a text message.

For example, if you see a website address on the side of a van, you can photograph the url but you would need to type it into a browser. By photographing the QR code, you can go directly to the website without any typing (or mis-typing).

Download the app from iTunes or GooglePlay then use your smartphone to capture this QR code image and link to Signcraft's website.

The BPc blog has more examples of QR codes.

Office Space Logistics with state-of-the-art openable glass walls

The logistics of office space are ever changing. Sometimes you need privacy in an open plan office set up, perhaps as a conference room or to discuss staff appraisals.

Wouldn't it be good if you could create a wall when you want it and remove it when you don't - in a couple of minutes? In fact, if the room reduced the noise levels but retained natural light flow, how great would that be?

It's possible with tempered glass slide and pivot partition doors, which are made in England - and here's the link: Frameless Glass Office Partition Doors.

A website that we never want to need ...

A new website has been launched. If you're not currently in the market for items from Hertfordshire based Newlight Cremation Urns, their website www.newlightcremationurns.co.uk is a pleasure to browse. In fact, some of the containers and keepsake jewellery can be purchased for more pleasant reasons.

Products range from traditional caskets and urns for storage, display or burial, to beautiful keepsakes and jewellery that have a small container section for ashes or perhaps a small snip of hair. There are bio-degradable options for burial and attractive scatter tubes for scattering ashes.

Pets generally have shorter life spans and these are catered for, with specially designed urns, keepsakes and jewellery, some with cat, dog or paw-print motif and others with a place to accommodate a photograph - plus burial boxes for smaller house-pets, from under £30.

Working over the Holidays?

Snow time to stop!

Some companies close down for two weeks over Christmas and New Year but SAE Logistics closes for just one day - Christmas Day - and that follows a generally hectic pre-Christmas period on behalf of their Order Fulfilment customers.

On Boxing Day last year, SAE's MD took a call from a customer asking for an express Pick and Pack project to start at 7am the next morning and complete before New Years Eve.

This turned Boxing Day into boxing week for some dedicated SAE staff! SAE Logistics offers a complete storage and distribution service all year round. They also provide same-day, next-day plus haulage.
