A Village, proud to be Ugley

Some years ago, The BPc created a website for Ugley Village Hall. There are reference pages regarding T&Cs and relevant documents, hire prices, an inventory of items available, public classes to join (yoga, scouts, etc.), a history of the hall, a photo archive, details of the defibrillator plus a calendar of forthcoming events.

Every now and then, we are asked to update the information. Recently, this has included dates for the very popular Farmers Market, held each month.

Ugley Village is in Essex, just across the border from Hertfordshire and within easy reach of Stansted Airport, London and Cambridge. If you're nearby, check the dates and call in.

Old Photographs for a New Archive

Ugley village, on the borders of Essex and Herts, is anything but ugly! Run by the Ugley Village Hall board of volunteers, ugleyvillage.org.uk has a wealth of information which is regularly updated and added to, from their monthly farmers' markets to a potted history of the village.

The latest website updates include an archive of more than 100 historic photographs of Ugley plus ITV and BBC documentaries, broadcast earlier this year.

Considerable work was involved to select and resize the images for their archive page. Example of the photographs of life in Ugley are below. For more, go to:

SEO & Social Media Clients

In addition to Website Design, The BPc offers a range of internet business services.

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is tailored to each clients' business needs. It may require on-page content optimisation, updating websites to meet current technology standards and compliancy with government guidelines or it could be using social media to reach a wider audience to link to their websites.

We may also assist with keeping their news blog up to date. Linking to useful information is a great way of attracting people from social media and other websites.

A number of our current projects are for clients who need (or just want) assistance with setting up social media accounts, customising in line with company style and/or regular news posted across various media. Depending on their suitability, this might involve Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, Tumbler and/or YouTube.

Creating and editing video presents an issue to some clients but it can be extremely useful for engaging new visitors. Shorter videos are widely favoured on social media and longer ones are ideal for YouTube.

  • We set up a Facebook page for SunSeeker Doors and they now have over 3,000 followers.
  • Our YouTube video views for SunSeeker Doors exceed 70,000 views.
  • We set up a Facebook page for A White Rolls Royce and they now have over 3,500 followers.
  • We recently set up Social Media accounts for:
    • Ugley Village Hall;
    •  Ian Cummins, Author and Novelist.

Attractive Website for Ugley Village Hall

Ugley Village Hall www.ugleyvillage.org.uk
There are many places with amusing names, such as Nasty in Herts and Ugley in Essex. We were delighted to be asked to develop a CMS website for Ugley Village Hall.

CMS stands for Content Management System, which requires a developer to build a database-driven website that has an easily updateable user interface (i.e. users can add and edit their own page content, news, etc.). This means that there are no monthly costs each time the website information is updated.

Whilst developing the website, we discovered a couple of YouTube videos about Ugley, which are available to view on the website news pages. The website has a calendar of public events plus all you need to know about booking the hall for your event - availability, prices, facilities, T&Cs, etc.
